The two men are depicted in formal attire, with Alexander VI seated on his papal throne and Cesare standing before him, both exuding an air of authority and determination. Alexander VI, a Spanish cardinal, was elected Pope in 1492, becoming the first Spanish and the first Borgia Pope. His papacy was marked by nepotism, political maneuvering, and scandal. He is infamous for his many extramarital affairs and the birth of several illegitimate children, including Cesare. Cesare Borgia, the eldest of these children, was a military commander and political figure in his own right.
