EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "December - the Chateau de Vincennes, 15th century" takes us back in time to a hunting scene set in the enchanting forests of northern France. Created by Paul Limbourg in 1939, this image is part of the renowned book of hours called "Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry" commissioned for Jean, Duc de Berry. In this particular illustration, we witness an intense moment as dogs eagerly tear apart a wild boar while a man on the right sounds his horn. The Chateau de Vincennes stands proudly in the distance, originally built as a hunting lodge for noble pursuits. Its central donjon still remains intact today.
