New Cooks Kitchen, Illogan, Cornwall. 1893
The hanging wall (top left) of the lode above the 406 fathoms level. The wall was very weak and had to be supported by a forest of timbers. It proved very troublesome and occasioned two or three large " runs" and, unfortunately, some fatal accidents were caused by falls of the hanging wall. Photographer: John Charles Burrow (1852 - 1914)
