Monkeys at Wild Snow Monkey Park, Nagano Prefecture, Japan
Monkeys are enjoying bathing in a hot spring at Jigokudani Yaen-Koen (Wild Snow Monkey Park), Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
The park is located near Shiga Kogen Plateau, Asis biggest ski resort, as well as Yudanaka-Shibu Onsen area, one of the highest quality spas in Japan.
The group of monkeys, which come down to Jigokudani (literally means Hell Valleya) Wild Monkey Park, is said to consist of about 160 monkeys. I understand that monkeys generally prefer sunbathing to bathing in the hot spring and therefore, on a fine shining day, they tend to stay high up in their mountain instead of coming down to the valley. On a cold cloudy or snowy day, more of them tend to come down to the valley, including bathing in the hot spring

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a heartwarming scene at the Wild Snow Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. A group of approximately 160 monkeys can be seen joyfully bathing in a hot spring at Jigokudani Yaen-Koen. Nestled near the magnificent Shiga Kogen Plateau, Asia's largest ski resort, and the renowned Yudanaka-Shibu Onsen area, known for its top-quality spas, this park offers an unforgettable experience. Interestingly, these monkeys usually prefer sunbathing over soaking in hot springs. However, on cloudy or snowy days when the mountains are shrouded in coldness, they descend to the valley and indulge themselves in this natural spa. It is truly a sight to behold as they relax and enjoy their therapeutic dip amidst nature's beauty. The photographer has skillfully captured this enchanting moment that showcases both the playful nature of these primates and their ability to find comfort even in extreme weather conditions. This stunning image serves as a reminder of how animals adapt to their surroundings and find solace where it may seem unexpected. Whether you are an animal lover or simply appreciate breathtaking photography from around the world, this print will undoubtedly bring warmth and serenity into your space.
