Planet around binary star Kepler-453
Kepler 453-b is the tenth transiting, so-called Tatooine exoplanet found by the Kepler spacecraft. It is a circumbinary planet, meaning that it orbits the two central stars as if they were one. From the planet, or from a satellite around the planet, it would be possible to witness double sunsets (or sunrises) as in the movie Star Wars, when Luke Skywalker gazes at the setting suns on his home planet of Tatooine. The planet is a gas giant within the systems habitable zone, taking 240 days to complete an orbit. The two stars, meanwhile, orbit each other in only 27 days

EDITORS COMMENTS
Behold the mesmerizing binary star system of Kepler-453, home to the extraordinary planet Kepler 453-b. This artwork showcases a gas giant within the habitable zone, orbiting not one but two central stars as if they were a celestial duo. A true Tatooine-like experience awaits any observer on this distant world or its satellite. In this stunning digital illustration by Mark Garlick, we are transported to an otherworldly realm where double sunsets and sunrises grace the horizon. Just like Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, one can imagine gazing at two setting suns painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson. Kepler 453-b is no ordinary exoplanet; it marks the tenth transiting Tatooine-like discovery made by NASA's Kepler spacecraft. With an orbital period of 240 days, this gas giant dances around its twin stars while they gracefully complete their own orbital ballet in just 27 days. This awe-inspiring image invites us to contemplate the vastness and diversity of our universe. It serves as a reminder that even in realms far beyond our reach, wonders await those who dare to explore and dream.
